What kind of person does Cathay Dragon recruit for Cabin Crew?

We recruit for personality and then train for skills. If you’re a friendly and positive person who works well in a team and cares for customers, we encourage you to apply.

Can I apply if I do not have any work experience?

Yes. You are welcome to apply if you meet our practical requirements and can demonstrate the people and interpersonal skills that we are looking for.

Will airline or hospitality experience give me an advantage?

Any kind of frontline customer service experience will be advantageous.

How long will it take to hear the result of my interview?

The entire recruitment process takes 4-6 weeks to complete. If you haven’t heard from us after 6 weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.

Do I need to be a bilingual or trilingual?

In addition to speaking fluent English, applicants are also required to speak either Cantonese, Japanese or Korean. It will be an advantage if one can also speak Putonghua.

Can I reapply if my application isn’t successful?

Yes. Any applicant who does not succeed may reapply after six months.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Being able to swim is an advantage but not a requirement. However, you will need to pass a wet drill, which includes getting onto a life raft in a swimming pool (wearing a life vest) in order to become qualified as a Flight Attendant.

How long will it take to gain a promotion?

It usually takes Flight Attendants 4-6 years to become eligible to apply for a higher rank, providing they have gained enough flying experience and performed well.

I am not a Hong Kong citizen. Can I still apply?

In general, recruitment activities held in Hong Kong are open to Hong Kong permanent citizens only. However, we occasionally recruit Flight Attendants from China and other countries such as Japan and Korea. This is dependent on the operational needs of the year.
